Why I don't want to join the menstrual hygiene day
Trigger warning:
I am on day 27 and I am not here to fulfill any expectations. I am here to speak my truth. Fierce and loud. And I feel the rage!
Before we start …
That’s another story, but just to tell you: I got burned before. Many many lifetimes and I am not afraid of the witch hunt. Hunt me, burn me, I will come back again as your worst nightmare!
Today, on the 28th of may 2021 I feel some pressure, to participate the “menstrual hygiene day”. Also I feel some resistance because I personally am more the rebel type. I don’t like to do what everyone is doing. I believe the direction in which everyone is running is never the right one.
Rage
I am angry! So angry.
The narrative, the conversations happening about menstruation at the moment makes me so angry!
I am angry with my menstruating sisters and fellow witches because we are “fighting” for not even the bare-minimum and still disrespecting our greatness and pussy power!
If that’s you, I want to look in your eyes and soul, hold you by your shoulders and tell you: “How are you disrespect your own power, the one of all women on the this planet?!”
We are talking about companies putting tampons in toilets? Whoooot, really? This is far from what I really want to talk about.
Fuck the tampons! That’s totally a distraction. Give me power! Oh no, you can not give me my power, I can only take it and I will!
I empower myself and I hope you join me and remember this:
Menstruators are the most powerful creators on the planet (we are literally creating human life) And we still think we need the ones destroying the planet giving us dignity and and free us from shame?!
Come on, that’s ridiculous!
If you don’t know what I am talking about go ahead, check out menstrualhygieneday.org to find out that the main sponsors are for example p&g and "always”.
I learned to be very critical especially when big corporations are presenting themselves, as they care about doing “something good”. I am not against capitalism, I think it’s cool to buy and sell things and to make money.
Are you ready for some truth?
They want to sell what they call “menstrual hygiene products”
P&G don’t care how women feel.
Empowered menstruators would be a big threat to their business.
So instead of really empowering menstruators they help to remove the stigma aka solve the problem the created in the first place. Exactly those who created and are still feeding the idea, that living as a cyclical being is shameful are now trying to remove the stigma. LOL.
Ready for more truth?
I would never tell a menstruator what products to use. Not here and not in my workshops. Your vagina your choice.
I share from my experience and perspective:
Since I am free-flowing (I use menstruation underwear) I have no cramps and no heavy bleeding.
What many people don’t know is that I studied textile technology as a bachelor and I learned a lot about how textiles behave.
If you use a tampon, fibres of the tampon stay in your vagina. That’s not my definition of hygiene.
The blood is supposed to flow out. If you put anything is your vagina you are interfering in your natural flow. It’s not hygienic to interrupt a liquid that on it’s way of leaving your body. Not on a physical and also not on an emotional level. No wonder we are emotionally and mentally
Okay, let’s talk more about hygiene
Seriously women, menstruators. Why do we believe that our bleeding phase needs to be hygienic?
Bleeding is wild and messy. Let’s embrace that instead of trying to “behave” more.
What about celebrating being non-hygienic for a few days of the month?
What would happen if you allowed your wildness?
You can do whatever you want with your blood, use it as face mask or not, give it to your plants or not.
One thing I know for sure. We can only be free, until we free ourselves.
Are we seriously waiting for corporations to help us being “hygienic” enough by selling us things that may or may not be good for us?
These are not menstrual hygiene products, these are products to further dis-empower menstruators.
And now: Menstrual Hygiene Management
Who the fuck, came up with the idea that a menstrual cycle can and has to be managed?!
That’s soooo wrong! No no no. No! Women, please do not believe this bullshit.
Menstruators are not suffering because the do not “manage” their menstruation and blood enough. Lack of management is not the problem.
The problem is a world, in which something so wild, powerful and unmanageable can not be accepted. Suffering and shame of menstruators will end, when the world stops trying to control the most powerful creative force on the planet.
The solution is not more management, the solution is no more management but surrendering the flow.
The truth about Menstruation & Business
The truth is that if women would really honour their cyclical nature the economy would change.
Maybe the only thing we need to re-learn and re-member is that RESTING IS PRODUCTIVE.
Do more to get further is burnout-culture and disrespecting (our own) nature.
Everything that’s not in balance can not be sustainable and sustained over a longer period of time.
If you ask me, they know, consciously or subconsciously they know that an empowered menstruator is free and super dangerous for current systems.
A woman who is connected to the wisdom of her body can not be manipulated or exploited as easily. That’s a world that I want and I hope you too, so here some suggestions.
How to create an empowering environment for menstruators
Acknowledge that the menstrual cycle is more than hormones and blood and a human more than the body.
Implement “On what day are you?” as a very normal question, just like “How are you” and of course have everyone educated about what this means.
Shift the narrative! Acknowledge the menstrual cycle as what it actually is: An (unfair) advantage in business and life.
Let menstruators create processes and structures in alignment with their cycle (so automatically things we be created balanced, and balance means health.)
